Nicolas Lainé

Nicolas Lainé is an anthropologist at the UMR PALOC (IRD-National Museum of Natural History, Paris). He is a specialist in society-environment relations and has conducted numerous field studies in India, Laos and Thailand. His work focuses in particular on human-animal relations, health (One Health), and local knowledge (ethno-veterinary practises). They explore the complex links between biodiversity-society-health and open reflections on the co-production of knowledge (expert/profane, human/non-human) in South and Southeast Asia.
Being the Principal Investigator (PI) of the BufFarm project, he is in charge of the overall coordination of the various scientific components. Mobilizing ethnozoology and ethnobotany approach he is also collecting farmer’s knowledge on the different fieldsites.
